Lifting of Hands
Biblical posture of surrender, praise, worship, and prayer
“Therefore I want men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath & dissension.” 1 Timothy 2:8
Clapping of Hands
Expressing emotions and praise
We clap during singing and in thanksgiving to praise His name
“O clap your hands, all peoples; shout to God with a voice of triumph.” Psalm 47:1
Kneeling or Laying Prostrate
Biblical posture of surrender, praise, and prayer
“Come, let us worship & bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our maker.” Psalm 95:6
Anointing With Oil
Anointing oil is used as a point of contact and a symbol of the Holy Spirit
We are instructed in the Bible to anoint with oil and pray for the sick (James 5:13-15)
Annointing sets people or objects apart for God’s use (1 Samuel 16:13)
Praying for the Sick
This was a major part of Jesus’ ministry so we follow His steps in this (Matthew 4:23-24; 8:18-17; Luke 1:32-35; 4:38-44)
It is His will to heal and Jesus still heals people. He commands His followers to do likewise(Matthew 10:1; Mark 16:15-18; Acts 5:12-16)
Dancing Before the Lord
Creative Arts Ministry works with the worship team to lead the congregation into the throne room of God, with dance and creative expressions of praise and worship.
“Let them praise His name in the dance: let them sing praises unto Him with the tambourine and harp.”Psalm 149:3
Sincere praise and worship of the believer makes a habitation for God
Exalts and Magnifies Jesus as the King of kings
Diversity of Instruments In Worship
The scripture says “Praise him with the trumpet sound; praise Him with harp and lyre. Praise Him with tambourine and dancing. Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe. Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!”Psalm 150
We praise God with all kinds of instruments that engage people in worshipful praise.
Speaking In Tongues & Interpretation of Tongues
Speaking in tongues is a spiritual gift that helps us to worship and glorify God.
It is also a form of prayer language that helps us to pray according to God’s perfect will.
The spiritual gift of tongues with interpretation serves to build up the church.
Tongues, the prayer language is for personal edification
“For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. 3 But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men. 4 He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.” 1 Corinthians 14:2-4
As we worship God through praise, adoration, and thanksgiving, something beautiful takes place in our lives. Worship joins our hearts to the Father’s and His life begins to flow into our souls. Our revelation of Him increases and His presence begins to encompass us. The Holy Spirit ministers grace into our lives in the form of peace, joy, love, patience, healing, and many others.
